Baby Moss-Sloth, Handmade Fantasy Creature by RikerCreatures Baby Moss-Sloth, Handmade Fantasy Creature by RikerCreatures
After a lot of passionate hard work, I am so excited to show you my baby Moss-Sloth.  A fantasy creation inspired by wild Two-Toed Sloths from the rainforests of South America, this cuddly baby Moss-Sloth has big, soft eyes and delicate tendrils of natural moss seeming to grow from long fur on her back. This one of a kind, soft, fully posable creature is designed with quality synthetic fur that has been hand-dyed. The face is sculpted, painted, and fur glued onto it piece by piece for a natural look.

Construction: Synthetic fur, fully posable wire armeture, soft plolyester filling, epoxy clay face and claws, hand-painted eyes and details in acrylics, natural sphagnum moss tendrils.

I am happy to share technique with other artists, and will do my best to answer any questions :)

Hi, I was wondering if you had any tips on how I could do this?
I wanted to know what type of clay you used and gloss. Anything would be really helpful because I really want to make something like this.

Hey there! I have good news, I am currently working on a how-its-made with full photos set and materials. If you add me to your watch list, you will see it come up within a week or so.

To answer your question now, I use mainly epoxy clay for the face sculpting and polymer clay for fine details like claws. Epoxy is easier to buy in bulk online and is a bit cheaper than polymer, so it's more suited for larger peices like heads that need to be painted after; and it turns into a very durable hard plastic-like substance. For the gloss on the eyes, I simply use a good quality clear high gloss that I got at my local art store.

Stay posted for the full tutorial :)

I have clearly said too much haha, I didn't realize you were on my DA page! :P Don't tell your husband I let the cat out of the bag (or in this case the sloth) He went to a lot of trouble to make sure it would be exactly what you wanted

Hello!
I just stumbled upon this little baby and I cannot believe you made this free hand! The tiny details and realistic features on this sloth are incredible. I would love to purchase a sloth like this one featured in the pictures. Is there any chance I could purchase one? If so, please email me at clossmlm@miamioh.edu to discuss pricing! Thank you so much!

I was like "oh she has a pet sloth, cool."

and then I go "well wait I do not think it's real.."

and then he I was all like "ok no I actually do think it is real."

and then I read 'Synthetic fur' and I said "since I have learned Englisch I know this means fake so....I guess it's fake then.." xD

I am from Germany but I have lots and lots of nationalities (German, Russian, Prussian, French, British, Irish, Austrian, Swedish, Swiss, Italian) so Englisch was  my 6th language because I learned German (obviously) Italian, Russian, Swedish, and French by the time I was 4 (I also have family in all of those countries so that is why I needed to be fluent in them because we travel there so often) and I'm not sure why I waited until I was 10 and 11 to learn Englisch...I was shipped off to my Englisch and Irish family so they taught me xD

Haha yeah...it is so fun because I get to translate everything for the family..even when they're fighting I have to translate all their hilarious insults but for my drawings and everything I write everything in Englisch because that is the common language. xD the reason why I got DA is because we were at war with my Englisch family over something stupid (it was like everyone else vs them) and we tried to talk some sense into my Irish family but they took England's side. So we stopped talking for a bit. My mutti said "Claudia! You're going to forget all your Englisch that they worked so hard to teach you! Go find an American website and get Englisch speaking friends!" She said that she wouldn't invade and I didn't have to tell what website, but I got this. We were only fighting for a month or so but I've had this for a year lol
